Overview Airbus Helicopters North America is seeking a Senior Legal Counsel in Washington, DC to lead anti‑bribery and corruption, ethics&compliance, Third Party and Transaction Management, Risk Management, and related legal support for Airbus Helicopters Inc. and AHCA. The role is a generalist legal position with broad responsibilities across the North American business.
Responsibilities Primary responsibilities are divided by key functional areas and weighted percentages.
Ethics&Compliance Management (25%)
Lead the Ethics&Compliance program for AHNA, including assessments, action plans, and training.
Coordinate with Sales, Military Programs, Finance, HR, and other functions.
Maintain program library and monitor changes to laws and company policies.
Third Party and Transactions Management (25%)
Implement AHNA compliance with Airbus policies for intermediaries, lobbyists, distributors, and joint ventures.
Oversee due diligence, risk evaluations, and contract drafting for third parties.
Support post‑merger integration of ethics&compliance programs.
Risk Management (15%)
Lead investigations reported to Airbus OpenLine and manage corrective actions.
Coordinate disclosures to U.S. authorities and support proposal presentations.
Represent Airbus in external forums and risk assessments.
Support Management (10%)
Maintain relationships with compliance organizations and support ECRs.
Develop metrics, prepare reports, and assist with budgeting for compliance resources.
One‑Roof Legal Support (15%)
Provide legal support to business functions (Sales, Contracts, Engineering, etc.) across the U.S., Canada, and Europe.
Claims&Litigation Support / Other Legal Support (10%)
Assist in litigation support, contract drafting, and intellectual property matters.
Provide guidance on licensing, software, and data protection.
Additional responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications
Education:
Juris Doctorate from an accredited law school.
Experience:
Minimum 10 years practicing law, including at least 8 years in anti‑bribery, corruption, ethics compliance, risk management, or related roles.
Preferred Experience:
Leading cross‑functional teams, working in global organizations, and implementing proactive compliance programs.
Licensure / Certifications
Admitted to the bar in at least one U.S. state and in good standing.
Travel Requirements Less than 5% domestic and international travel.
Citizenship&Clearance Authorized to work in the U.S. No security clearance required.
Core Skills
Global transaction experience and knowledge of U.S. regulatory matters (antitrust, CFIUS, ESG, etc.).
Strong analytical, research, and communication skills.
Independent, self‑starter ability to balance multiple complex projects.
Knowledge of aerospace/aviation and government contracting (FAR, DFAR).
Experience with software licensing and digital transaction agreements.
Communication Skills Proficient verbal and written communication in English; preference for conversational ability in German, French, or Spanish.
Technical Systems Proficiency
Required: Microsoft Word, Adobe Acrobat.
Preferred: Google Workspace, Westlaw, Practical Law.
Organizational Information Reports to the Vice President, Legal Affairs&Head of Legal&Compliance. No direct reports.
Physical Requirements Typical office duties; occasional onsite travel to a facility; able to perform standard office tasks such as lifting up to 15 lbs.
