Position Data: Title: Asset Development Specialist
Grade: 7 Exempt, Non-Exempt X
Reports to: Housing and Community Development Deputy Director
Basic Function or Position Summary: Responsible for providing financial literacy, homeownership, credit counseling, debt restructuring, foreclosure prevention and bankruptcy services. The position also supports customers in the Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher Rental/Homeownership Subsidy Program and other tenant-based services. Hours per week: 35 (Monday - Friday 8:30am to 4:30pm). Salary $19.66 hourly.
Security Clearance: CAPTAIN Security Access level 4, V, R
Position Responsibilities and Specific Duties:
Provide the following services for customers
Assist in development of a plan to attain customer's housing and asset goals that is consistent with the customer's other life goals and integrated with other services the customer receives
Financial literacy
Credit/debt counseling
Homeownership pre-purchase counseling
Post homeownership counseling
Default/foreclosure prevention
Bankruptcy counseling
Housing analysis
Housing searches
Track and report customer progress along asset continuum
Track service data, input and maintain program tracking database. Reporting and data analysis as needed
Comprehensive knowledge of divisional service options
Ability to articulate individual accountability and responsibility in a positive way - thus facilitating customer buy-in
Looks for ways to improve and promote quality; applies feedback to improve performance
Promotes agency mission
Maintains confidentiality and complies with the code of ethics
Maintains consistent professional customer service
Job performance incorporates integrated service delivery model while promoting self-sufficiency
Other duties as designated by supervisor

External: Customers, Lenders, Creditors

Number of staff supervised: 0
Titles supervised: N/A
Organizational Responsibilities:
Adheres to all policies and procedures
Gathers appropriate documentation and tracks outcomes
Participates in organizational committee structures as appropriate
Participates in organizational and divisional management systems
Knowledge, Skills Required:
Associate degree in Sciences Business, Human Services, required; Bachelor's degree in Sciences Business, Human Services preferred
A minimum of one year experience in human, housing or financial services required
Strong communication skills/verbal and written
Strong Computer Skills
Good interpersonal skills: consistent even attitude towards all customers
Strong customer engagement and communication skills
Bilingual preferred
Good organizational skills, timely reporting
Demonstrates sound judgment and problem solving ability
Good written skills
Physical:
Ability to lift up to and including 10-25 pounds of physical effort
Special Requirements
Must be able to provide consistent even tempered customer service at all times
Flexibility in work schedule
Ability to pass NYS criminal background clearance upon hire and every 5 years thereafter
Valid Driver's license
Reliable transportation
Ability to travel throughout the county
Works compassionately with a diverse population
Experience navigating community programs
