Description
Overview
Your Job: As a Signal Integrity (SI) Engineer, you will operate at the critical intersection of mechanical precision and electrical excellence. You will drive the development of next-generation interconnect solutions—including USB-C, HFM, HSAL-G and HS-Max—utilizing advanced 3D Electromagnetic (EM) simulation and high-frequency laboratory characterization. Your mission is to ensure Molex products deliver uncompromising signal integrity within the most demanding automotive and data center environments. What You Will Do
3D EM Simulation&Virtual Prototyping Full-Wave Modeling: Develop high-fidelity 3D models of connectors and cable terminations using Ansys HFSS or CST Studio Suite. Optimization: Conduct "what-if" analyses on mechanical variables—such as pin geometry and shield spacing—to optimize impedance, return loss, and crosstalk.Impedance Control: Identify and mitigate discontinuities within the connector pin-field and mating interfaces. Lab Validation&Characterization High-Frequency Measurement: Utilize VNAs and TDRs to characterize physical prototypes at frequencies of 20 GHz and beyond. Advanced De-embedding: Apply AFR, TRL, or 2xThru de-embedding techniques to isolate connector performance from test fixture interference. Correlation: Close the loop between virtual models and physical reality by validating simulation accuracy against empirical lab data.Crosstalk Discovery&Mitigation Aggressor-Victim Analysis: Perform deep-dive simulations to identify primary crosstalk contributors in high-density arrays. Noise Calculation: Evaluate ICN (Integrated Crosstalk Noise) and Power Sum Crosstalk against IEEE 802.3 or OIF-CEI standards. Pin-Map Optimization: Recommend optimized signal-to-ground ratios and G-S-S-G patterns to maximize isolation.Data Automation&Strategy Scripting: Leverage Python or MATLAB to automate the processing of massive Touchstone data sets. Compliance: Ensure designs meet or exceed industry specifications, including USB4, USCAR-2, LV214, Open Alliance, Automotive Ethernet and other standards. Qualifications
PhD in Electrical Engineering, Physics, or Computer Engineering (RF/Microwave focus) + 5 years of experience. Master’s Degree in a related field + up to 8 years of experience. Bachelor’s Degree in a related field + 8 to 10 years of professional experience. Core Competencies
Analytical Rigor: A deep-seated desire to understand the "why" behind signal degradation and electromagnetic phenomena. Communication: The ability to translate complex EM theory into actionable design guidance for mechanical teams and stakeholders. Mobility: Willingness to travel up to 25% to support global projects. What Will Put You Ahead
Expertise in Transmission Line Theory, S-parameters, and Smith Charts. Mastery of simulation suites (Ansys HFSS, SI-Wave, ADS, CST). Experience with Python (NumPy, Pandas, Matplotlib) for SI data analytics. Practical experience in EMC/EMI testing and high-speed hardware debugging.
