Description
Job Description Europ Assistance (Generali Group) is engaged in a deep transformation of its Information System across 30+ countries. The ambition: move from a historically fragmented, entity-by-entity IS toward a Group model built on a holding team acting as Publisher, and local IT teams positioned as Integrators.
This transformation unfolds in a context of accelerating AI adoption across all business and IT domains—, heightened governance requirements from Generali Group, and a strong mandate to simplify, standardize, and scale the IS.
The Enterprise Architecture Manager is the guardian of IS coherence, quality, and strategic direction in this transformation. They are the primary Group-level interlocutor for Generali on all architecture topics, and a key conversation partner for the CIOs of all subsidiaries across the Group.
Core Mandate Define the architecture that makes growth and stability possible: a scalable, secure, AI-native IS that subsidiaries can build on autonomously— within Group standards and under Generali governance.
Key Responsibilities 1. Governance&Generali Relationship
Ensure full compliance of Europ Assistance IS architecture with Generali Group standards, regulations, and GIRS requirements
Act as the technical reference interlocutor in all Generali architecture reviews— Architecture Review Board, audits, GIRS reporting
Anticipate Group standard evolutions and translate their implications proactively for the Europ Assistance IS
Produce the architecture deliverables required by Generali validation processes (architecture packs, cartographies, roadmaps, ADRs)
2. Target Architecture Vision&Enterprise Urbanism
Define and maintain the Group IS target architecture, fully aligned with the Publisher / Integrator operating model
Design and drive architecture roadmaps aimed at simplifying, standardizing, and scaling the IS across 30+ countries
Lead the legacy decommissioning strategy— identify targets, sequence retirements, ensure continuity and business impact control
Guarantee cross-domain architectural consistency: applications, data, infrastructure, security, and AI
3. Architecture&AI— Embedding Intelligence in the IS
Embed AI as a first-class citizen of the target architecture— not an add-on layer, but a structural paradigm shaping design decisions
Co-build with the Group AI Office the AI integration patterns for the IS: APIs, data flows, agent architectures, model governance
Define the architectural principles enabling subsidiary teams to deploy AI agents autonomously while complying with Group standards and the EU AI Act
Contribute architecture guardrails for CONSTELLATION (ORION, HYDRA, ANDROMEDA) project tiers, ensuring scalability from day one
4. Standards, Quality&Architecture Repository
Define and maintain the architecture repository: principles, patterns, technology standards, Architecture Decision Records (ADRs)
Facilitate architecture reviews on strategic and structuring projects across the Group
Ensure architectural quality of initiatives driven by Digital, AI, and local IT teams
Own the Architecture Playbook— the reference document that governs how all subsidiary teams build and integrate
5. CIO Engagement&Executive Communication
Serve as a credible, trusted counterpart to CIOs across 30+ countries— translate architectural decisions into business impact language
Present architecture strategy and transformation roadmaps at Executive Committee and SteerCo level
Produce clear, structured deliverables for non-technical audiences: Comex-ready slides, country briefings, transformation narratives
Make architecture visible, credible, and engaging— it must mobilize, not just govern
6. Team Leadership&Architecture Community
Directly manage a team of architects: set objectives, allocate priorities, track contributions, ensure delivery quality
Coach and develop architect profiles within the team— technical depth, communication skills, strategic thinking
Animate the Group architecture community across subsidiaries: share best practices, run architecture forums, build a common culture
Define roles, interfaces, and the operating model between central architecture and local IT teams (responsibility matrix, escalation paths)
Manage trade-offs and unblocking situations— the EA Manager is the final arbiter of architectural decisions at Group level
Preferred Experience Education&Experience
Engineering degree or equivalent (Master's level / Bac+5)
At least 10 years of experience in enterprise architecture or IS architecture in complex, multi-country environments
Significant experience in a software publisher strongly valued— understanding of product logic, scalability, and release cycles is a structural asset
Experience in Group-wide IS transformation programs: migration, decommissioning, standardization at scale
Prior experience managing architecture teams or architect communities— not just individual contributor excellence
Technical Skills
TOGAF certification (9.x or 10) appreciated
Strong command of enterprise architecture frameworks
Solid expertise in hybrid cloud architectures (Azure / AWS), microservices, APIs, and integration patterns
Good understanding of AI/ML challenges at architectural level: LLM integration, agent architectures, data pipelines, model governance
Knowledge of security, compliance, and data governance in a Group context— familiarity with AI Act obligations is a strong plus
Cross-functional Skills
Demonstrated ability to produce board-quality slides and present architectural vision to CIOs and Executive Committee members— architecture must be visible, not only rigorous
Credible, confident conversation partner for CIOs across cultures and geographies— able to build trust and alignment without formal authority
Strong managerial leadership: able to structure, grow, and energize a team while managing up effectively
Excellent synthesis capacity: simplify complex topics without losing substance
Strong influencing leadership in a matrixed, multicultural environment (30+ countries, multiple reporting lines)
Fluent English essential— ability to present in English to international audiences; French required
What makes the difference
Technical depth without academic posture— you think in systems but you know how to make systems legible to non-technical executives.
CIO credibility across cultures— you've sat in front of country CIOs and held your ground. You don't need a mandate to have influence.
Manager by conviction, not by default— you care about growing architects, not just producing deliverables.
Rigor is the entry ticket. The ability to bring a Comex and 30 country CIOs along for the journey is what separates the ideal candidate from the technically qualified one.
You've seen transformation programs succeed and fail. You know that architecture governance without adoption is just documentation.
